Getting Started

Never having been one to write much, I find it strange to be starting a blog. But recent times have been strange in many ways, so I find myself the owner of a personal blog. Putting what my be personal thoughts out into cyber space for a larger world to see. You may be asking now what has motivated Mike to begining journaling (sounds better than blogging) at this point in my life. What indeed.

Well about two months ago my wife, Mary (the other mthurmond) was diagnosed with breast cancer. This is not the threat it once was but as many of you can testify it isn’t a walk in the park. So I am doing this for several reasons. First we are blessed with may faithful friends, this will provide a way for each of you to keep up-to-date has we (Mary) go through this struggle. I will continue to email periodic updates, which will be posted here along with other items of interest. Next I read in a recent issue of Diabetes Forecast that journaling cna actually be a form of therapy when fighting an illness. So this and the emails provide a way for me to be involved in this struggle. And then there is the possibility that someone else may benefit from seeing these little snippets of life.

I didn’t get the blog started until late August but I am going to play around with the dates to get things in order. That way any one who is interested can look back at how this has unfolded.

I have rambled on lonng enough. Thanks for taking to time to read this. Most of all I want to thank all of you that are praying for Mary’s recovery.
